How To Play Minecraft 1.21.4 with Your Friends on PC

Do you want to play Minecraft 1.21.4 with your friends but don’t know how? In this guide, I’ll show you step by stephow to set up a private Minecraft server, so you and your friends can play together on PC without any issues.

Whether you’re using Java Edition or TLauncher, this method will work as long as you follow the instructions carefully. Let’s dive in!

Why Create a Private Minecraft Server?

  •  Play Minecraft with your friends anytime.
  •  Customize the world with mods, commands, and more.
  •  No need for third-party services or public servers.

Step 1: Download the Minecraft Server File

To create a Minecraft 1.21.4 server, you need to download the official server file from Mojang:

  •  Visit the official Minecraft website (or scroll down for the download link).
  • Click on Minecraft Server 1.21.4 (.jar) to start the download.
  • Once downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop and name it Minecraft Server.
  • Drag and drop the server.jar file into this new folder.

Step 2: Install Java (Required for Running the Server)

If you don’t have Java installed, your server won’t work properly. To fix this:

  •  Download and install Java 17 from the official Java website.
  • After installation, restart your computer to apply changes.
  • Now, double-click the server.jar file inside your Minecraft Server folder.

You will see some new files appear—but we’re not done yet.

Step 3: Accept the EULA Agreement

  • Open the eula.txt file inside the Minecraft Server folder.
  • Find the line that says eula=false and change it to eula=true.
  • Click File > Save, then close Notepad.

Step 4: Configure Your Server Settings

Now, let’s set up the server properties:

  • Open server.properties in Notepad.
  • Find the line server-ip= and leave it blank.
  • Change online-mode=true to online-mode=false if you want to allow cracked versions.
  • Save the file and close Notepad.

Step 5: Port Forwarding (So Friends Can Join)

For your friends to connect to your server, you must port forward:

  • Open Command Prompt (CMD) and type:
ipconfig
  • Copy your IPv4 Address and Default Gateway.
  • Open your web browser and enter the Default Gateway IP (this takes you to your router settings).
  • Go to Port Forwarding / Virtual Server settings in your router.
  •  Add a new port forward rule with these settings:
  • Port: 25565
  • Protocol: TCP/UDP
  • IP Address: Your IPv4 Address
  • Save the settings

Step 6: Start Your Server

Now that your server is set up, let’s start playing:

  •  Double-click the server.jar file again.
  • Open Minecraft 1.21.4 and go to Multiplayer > Add Server.
  • In the Server Address field, enter your public IP address (find it on Google by searching “What’s my IP?”).
  • Click Join Server, and you should be connected!

Your friends can now join using your public IP too!
