If you love Minecraft shaders but struggle with low FPS on your low-end PC, don’t worry—I’ve got you covered! In this guide, I’ll show you how to optimize BSL Shaders for low-end PC and get 60+ FPS, even on weaker hardware.

This tutorial will walk you through the best settings to boost performance while keeping BSL Shaders looking great. So, let’s get started and fix lag in Minecraft 1.21.4 shaders!

Why Optimize BSL Shaders?

BSL Shaders is one of the best Minecraft shaders out there, offering stunning visuals while still being lightweight. However, if you’re experiencing low FPS or lag, tweaking the settings can make a huge difference.

By following this guide, you will:

  • Improve FPS while keeping great graphics
  • Remove lag spikes and stuttering
  • Run BSL Shaders on a low-end PC smoothly

Step 1: Download OptiFine & BSL Shaders

To optimize BSL Shaders, you must have OptiFine installed. If you haven’t installed it yet, follow these steps:

  1. Download OptiFine: Click the download link at the bottom of this article.
  2. Install OptiFine: Double-click the .jar file and install it.
  3. Download BSL Shaders: Get the latest version of BSL Shaders (download link below).
  4. Move the Shaders to Minecraft:
    • Open Run (Windows + R) and type %appdata%, then hit Enter.
    • Navigate to .minecraft > shaderpacks.
    • Drag and drop the BSL Shaders .zip file into this folder.

Now, launch Minecraft with OptiFine and select BSL Shaders!

Step 2: Optimize BSL Shaders for Low FPS Fix

Now that BSL Shaders is installed, we need to adjust the settings for higher FPS while keeping good visuals.

1. Lower Shader Settings

  • Render Quality: 0.7x
  • Shadow Quality: 0.5x
  • Sky Resolution: 0.5x
  • Lighting Quality: Low

2. Adjust Video Settings

Go to Options > Video Settings, and set:

  • Graphics: Fast
  • Render Distance: 6-8 Chunks
  • Smooth Lighting: OFF
  • VSync: OFF
  • Bobbing: OFF
  • Clouds: OFF
  • Particles: Minimal

3. Turn Off Unnecessary Effects

In Shader Settings, disable:

  • Bloom
  • Motion Blur
  • Depth of Field (DOF)
  • Volumetric Light

These tweaks will dramatically improve FPS on low-end PCs!

Step 3: Test FPS & Make Final Adjustments

Once you’ve optimized BSL Shaders, restart Minecraft and test your FPS using:

  • F3 Menu: Press F3 to check FPS in the top-left corner.
  • Try different areas: Some biomes (like forests) are more demanding.
  • If FPS is still low:
  • Lower Render Distance even more.
  • Reduce Shadow Quality to 0.3x.
  • Disable Clouds and Weather Effects.

With these settings, you should be able to run BSL Shaders on a low-end PC smoothly!
